Precipitation

although we are told nothing lasts forever
raindrops come in infinite proportions
sliding down our window sill
and if they are lucky,
showering the man mumbling to himself
that he had been heedless enough
to forget his umbrella,
and other things.
someone who should be reminded
they don’t need to plan ahead
that from the oceans creating waves
of calamities that seem as submerging
as the sky they evaporate into —
condensation occurs.
from unprecedented clouds,
and comes back down
as another form
that had never crossed our minds
when we were too busy
complaining about being wet.

so although we are told
that there is nothing that lasts forever
presume
there are some things,
like water,
and other things
that do.
